Chrisjohn Hancock

Chrisjohn has been artistic director of the Lieder Theatre Company since 1992. During this time he has directed over 120 productions, instigated the Lieder Youth Theatre Company, extended the work of the company to include community arts performance-based projects engaging with a broad cross-section of the community, and taken Lieder performers to international festivals around the world. Before arriving at the Lieder Theatre Chrisjohn was artistic director for Coco Youth Theatre (now Southern Edge Arts) in Albany WA, community artist, program manager, artistic director for the Mustardseed Community Arts project throughout NSW, actor with Mainstreet Theatre in South Australia, Education Officer, actor and director for the Northern Territory Education Department, and artsworker, community musician for the Craigmillar Festival Society in Edinburgh, Scotland. A few years ago he had the privilege of visiting George Orwell’s historic house remains while travelling overland through Myanmar (Burma).
